Friends &
Neighbors,
With Olympic spirit and Olympic accomplishments all
around us this week, It is time to look at the long
straightaway between here and Election Day as a race in
which we all take part.
Many times this year I've felt like I'm
running a Marathon. It's not just the long
grueling course to the Polling Places that
makes me feel like that. It is also the throngs of
ordinary voters I see along the way, cheering me on and
offering their support. The race I'm running means
nothing unless there's a crowd to perform for.
But what about the race You're
running? That's right. Voters across America
are getting ready for this Election, just the way their
candidates are. They are beginning to get engaged
in the debate and they are starting to weigh the options
in each of the thousands of races being contended in
every state, city, and town. It's like stretching
and warming up before a time trial or a sprint. This is
the part where you, as an individual, start to decide
what kind of government you want representing you in the
two or four years ahead.
Just like me, your only objective should be the
Gold. You deserve nothing less than the best
representative government that modern American Democracy
can deliver. To achieve that lofty ambition you
have to get your head in the game and begin making up
your mind as to which candidates will get you to that
winner's podium.
I hope this week's MZD2 Newsletter will help.

The Debate Takes to the
Air
One of the best ways to decide who you think should
represent you in Congress is a head to head
comparison.
Next Thursday, August 21st, you may be able to
listen in to just such a match-up, courtesy of Dan Yorke
and WPRO Radio. Mark Zaccaria and James Langevin
have each been invited to discuss the issues facing
Rhode Island and the Federal Government. They will
lead off the show at 2:00pm Eastern Time. If you
live outside the listening area you can hear the
broadcast live on line at the WPRO Web
Site.
Dan Yorke can be expected to probe the key national
issues with both candidates. What will they say
about the Economy and the best way to get it roaring
again? How do each of them think we should tackle
high oil prices, especially with the Heating Season
right around the corner? How about the costs we
all have to bear to support Illegal Aliens? Or our
Individual Rights that seem sometimes to be slipping
away?
There's plenty to discuss and Mark will be there to
make his points. Do you think James Langevin will
show up to make this the First of the 20 Debates?
Tune in next Thursday to find out. It might be
your first hard lap around the RI District 2 Issues
track. |

Last June I got on the ballot as a candidate for
congress by receiving the endorsement of the Rhode
Island Republican Party. Following that honor I
received the endorsement of more than 900 ordinary
voters who took the time to sign their names on one of
my Nominating Petitions to validate that place on the
November Ballot. Since then there have been other
endorsements of my run.
Just last week the Rhode Island Republican Assembly
met in convention to endorse candidates in races all
across the state. I am pleased and honored to have
received their formal endorsement and the implied
acknowledgement of my conservative credentials that goes
along with it.
Next week the Board of the state's Federation of
Republican Women meets to consider a similar endorsement
and I have high hopes that they, too, will give me their
vote of confidence.
In the end, though, it will be the endorsement of
the majority of the one hundred thousand or more voters
here in the the Second District that will make the final
difference in this race. Those of you who have
signed on early are the teammates that will help me
convince all those others to vote for individual
Authority and the requirement to use it
Responsibly. You will help me convince them to
vote for a real change on November 4th.
For that I thank you.
Sincerely,
Mark Zaccaria Mark Zaccaria for

You're On the Team, Too

You know Mark can't do this all by himself.
You know that the final outcome of this campaign will be
a Team Effort. So if you're a supporter
please ask yourself, "Which leg of this Relay am I
willing to run?"
On Labor Day Weekend it will be time for Lawn Signs
to appear, marking the start of the outdoor advertising
campaign for the 60 days leading up to the
Election. Will you display one of Mark's on your
front lawn? Will you make a few calls
to Friends & Neighbors of yours who might do
so, too, if you asked? Great! Contact the
Campaign and let us know: Click
Here
Next Tuesday, August 19th, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm
James Langevin will be taking questions from the public
at the East Greenwich Town Hall. Mark will be
there trying to make it a qualifying round for the
Thursday Radio Debate. Can you be there? Can
you ask your Representative in Congress why he left the
Chamber and even left the country two weeks ago without
going on record about Off Shore Drilling? The
President caused a 15% dip in the price of crude oil
simply by lifting the Executive order against domestic
oil exploration. Can you imagine how much farther
that price would have dropped if Congress had signaled
it's willingness to do the same? I want to know
why a Rep from the one part of the country that heats
its homes predominantly with oil would miss the chance
to cut that dangerously high cost? Do You?
Then ask!
Do you agree with the fight Mark Zaccaria is
waging? If so, you may be a Rhode Islander who has
read these Newsletters and who has a real feel for why
Mark is the better choice for the two years ahead.
Thank You for that!
But how will everyone else in the District hear
that message? Can you volunteer to make some Phone
calls? How about hosting a back yard gathering of
those Friends & Neighbors that might want to meet
Mark and decide for themselves? In the end, the
ability of this campaign to communicate with the truly
Undecided voters will come down to money. Can you
help there? If so, Click

If we all put an oar in the water and Pull we can
work together to create the responsive, thoughtful
government that we all want. Now That's
Team Work! | |
